A Tale of Wrath

I just got a cool email sending me over to the Screwed Up Dice Blog.  In there, they are doing something really cool that I am going to toss my hat into the right for.  Ages ago, I took part in many Tale of Four Gamers back in my GW Days.  This was a chance to get some of the models finished that I had started and play some games with them.  I always liked the idea because even if I was hobbying at home, It was part of a bigger plan.  It wasn't just adding a new cool unit to an army, it was going towards the overall goal of the To4G.  So now, I get to do it all again with a new game system.

Here is the first post by the guys at Screwed Up Dice:

http://www.screwedupdice.com/2016/02/ataleofwrath-introduction.html

We are at Month Zero.  Here are the goals:

-Spread the word about A Tale of Wrath - Check!
-Read the Rulebook - Check!
-Choose a house - Hadross or Nasier, Check!
-Sign Up for A Tale of Wrath on Screwed Up Dice - Check!
-Prepare for the months of Building, Painting and Gaming - Wait for it... gotta grab a coke.

AND CHECK!

Tonight I will be going over my final choices and decide which House I will be playing from.  I just want to go over each Houses options one last time.

Cheers,
Jordan

Afternoon all!

Well, It was a pretty busy week.  I didn't get much done in the way of the Hobby.  I got the bases worked on a bit for my Brood and built a hero for my Age of Sigmar force.  I did get out and ran a few demos for Dark Age.  I got a date for the first full Demo Day at Terracrux in Tacoma Washington.  It will be on February 27th from 12-4(or later).  Once I get the flyer from the shop, I will post it here too!   Hopefully next week, more pics!

Cheers,

Order up!

Good morning Interwebz,

Well, its been a crazy week.  My fiancee is recovering well from surgery but it has made for a rough week.  I didn't reach the goals I had set for myself.  But, I did get some work done.  I got the flesh most of the way finished up on The Brood.

I also played with the GW Technical Paint - Nurlge's Rot.  It has a good gooey texture and should work well in the bases I have planned for The Brood.  I tried filling up one of the well bases from CMON as well as just painting a thin layer down.  It hold well, I might mix it with a touch of water effects to get a thicker appearance.

I also got most of the base coating done on my Fire Caste Dragyri, which will be one of my two demo sets for Dark Age.

And I got the flesh, hair and armour plates starter on my Gortisi Wolves for my Wrath of Kings demo.

Also, I got a huge chunk of my Khorne Deamons built but no pictures of them yet.  So at the end of the week, Yearly Painted Model Goal - 0/160.

Until next time, Cheers!

Light 'em up!

Hello 2016.  After muddling around for a few years, I want to get back to blogging.  My goal to start, is one update a week.  Like always, I will be doing 87,312 projects at once.  Because a gamer cannot die until all their toys are painted, right?  So here are some projects on the table:

- All things Dark Age - I have a Brood army, K3, Forsaken and Dragyri.

-Wrath of Kings - I have a demo army of Gortisi and Nasier and a personal army of Hadross

-Age of Sigmar - Khorne Bloodbound

-Infinity - There will be a league at my LGS and I want to get an army for it.  Still not sure which army it will be but I want to bust out a 300pt list

-Terrain - I have a gaming table in the War Room and now I just want some good looking terrain for gaming on.  I am looking at getting some gaming mats, I think they would look great.

Back Burner Projects

-X-Wing Repaints - There are a few models I'd like to repaint just for fun but will get to them when I can.

-40k - Tau.  I have loved them since they were released.  The new plastics are sweet, its just a matter of getting some paint slapped on them.

-Malifaux - Wyrd has some great models and the game is fun but it hasn't been striking my fancy since my old gaming group broke up.

Also, for they year, I have a painted model goal.  My year end goal is 160 painted models.  Fully painted and based.  As of today, I am at 0/160.  I do have 25 Brood that are base coated and my weekend goal.  Thanks for checking in, next week I should have some pictures!

Cheers,

Workin at Lunch- 06.12.12

Good afternoon,

Today, I was able to finish up the two platoons of M4A3 (late) Sherman tanks and my Abrams in his Easy Eight.  I got most of the work done just before work over the past two days and during lunch today.  It is humid as all get out so priming models is a no go for the next few days.  Tomorrow, I hope to get all of the .50Cal MGs drilled and into place before I try to prime these bad boys.  If things go right, I should be able to apply my new US Armour Wash to these guys and have them table ready in no time!

Thanks for reading,
Jordan

Playin' at Lunch- 06.08.12

Today, I got to roll some Dice with Bruce.  We played an 825 point game and had some fun.  We had to wait until the work day was over to finish it but in the end, it came down to one of my infantry platoons shooting down some of his German Grenadiers as they charged into combat on turn 5.  When they died, it would have forced a Company Morale but his Commander and 2iC were both dead.  I tried to take pictures for a battle report so they didn't look so hot.  Anyone have any input for taking picutres of a battlefield for a battle report?

Cheers,
Jordan

6th June- D-Day

Hey Guys,

First off, it's D-Day.  68 years later, we remember all those men and women who died in the Allies' charge into France.  With that being stated, its Flame of War time.  Today, I didn't get a lot done, I had to squeeze in a bit of work during that hour but, I still got some done.  I got 2 57mm gun crews and 2 M1 3inch gun crews mounted on their bases and ready for priming.  I also got the 6 jeeps all based up and the magic mix is drying now.  I also started working on the M1 90mm AA cannons but there was a load of flash on the base of the gun so that took up most of my time.  I also go the last wash put onto the base for my test bazooka team but right now, it's still drying.  No pictures today as its still a lot of sliver!

Until tomorrow!

Lunch Work- D-1 Day!

Good afternoon,

First up, Happy Anniversary to my lovely Bride!  Two years and two great kids down, 48 years to go.  Today, between a bit of time before work and lunch, I got my Jeeps almost all done.  I have some detail work on the guns and some touch ups on the crew.  Next us will be the decals followed by some basing and weathering.  I also got the wash on Patton's M20- I got an extra drop of green in it so he looks like a Vietnam era vehicle.  I also got a bazooka team based and washed as my 'test' team.  And you can see some of my AT gun teams- I got those built yesterday and the blister pack are the guys I got cleaned today.

Thanks again guys!

Workin' Lunch- 06.04.12

Hang on readers.  I would say, 4 out of 5 work days in a week, I stay in during my lunch and Hobby.  It can be on everything from my 4th AD, my Super Secert FOW Ninja protect, Death Guard for 40k, Allies for Dust, or what ever other random project I feel like working on.  Those above four have been the focus of late.  So my new goal is this:  During Lunches that I hobby, I will try and post a pic of whatever I did that day.  If I run out of time to snap a picture, I will at least put down what I have done.  This way, I can feel like I am making a bit more progress.

So, here is day one.  Monday the 4th, one day until D-1 and my 2nd wedding anniversary.  I didn't pick that day intentionally, it just fell into place.  So for today, I got the following done:

-6 US Jeeps washed with my American Armour Wash.
-Built 2 gun crew for a M5 3in gun.
-Built 2 gun crew for a 57mm gun.
-Primed two platoons of Engineers in British Armour Italy Spay as well as my CC and 2iC.

On, and on the screen today was the last part of the classic, The Longest Day.

WTF? May?!?!

Hey guys,

So May was one of the hardest months of my life.  With people being put into the ER and other passing away, it was a bear of a month.  However, on the plus side the month is over and my American's made it onto the FOW site.

My Army list can be found HERE.  Just scroll down a bit!

My 4th American Armor Division can be seen HERE!

Some Battle shots can be seen HERE.

Overall, I am happy with the way that the Sherman tanks turned out.  I was trying out something new with some pigment powders and it was heavier then I was expecting.  With all that said, it is a good little list and I am happy to have it done.  Painting those models did get me really excited to work on my American Army but I will not be making the list I had planned on.  The new list is a Super Secret Level 3 Ninja project.  But, keep tuned in and I will show off some of my new platoons as I get them painted.

Death Guard Contemptor!

Good afternoon,

On this past Sunday, I had a chance to paint at home. With the newborn Private Ren and a hyperactive little monkey, that has been hard to do. But, in between cleaning up the Man Cave and watching Season 1 of Game of Thrones, I got a whole model painted. So behold, my Pre-Heresy Era Death Guard Contemptor Dreadnaught.

But do not think that he has been the only things that I have been working on. I should have some pictures of the 4th Armour Division from Blood, Gut, and Glory for Flames of War and I have a Dindrenzi Fleet for Firestorm Armada.

Thanks for stopping by!

STORM EAGLE SPOTTED!

Wow, I just got the email from a buddy (thanks Gordon!) and this models is HOT! After looking at it for a while, I approve. No idea when it will be out but, you can bet I will be getting at least one.

However, lately I have been working on some American Armor via the 4th A.D. I have more Shermans on the table then I will need but, you can't go wrong with tanks. At the shop, we have been playing a Tank Aces Campaign out of the new Blood, Guts and Glory book from Battlefront Miniatures. So far, it has been a blast an the 4th AD is taking lots of names. I will grab some WIP pics in the next few days and toss em up.

Best Miniature EVER!

I would like to introduce everyone to Renen Thomas. He was born last Tuesday at 9:02am. After several days in the NICU unit, he is doing great and home. This is one of the better pictures I got with my phone but this was him on day 3 when he had just a feeding tube. I cannot wait for my little brusier to get bigger!

FW Crack... err... WIP Shot

Well, my Christmas present from cough, me, cough, just showed up on Wednesday. With Renen due at almost any time, Nic and I have been working overtime making sure everything is clean. We are about 90% there but all of us have gotten sick. What is better to do on a day while the girls are napping? HOBBY TIME! My Master of the Forge arrived, he is 95% Armenneus Valthex from the Astral Claws. Overall, the model is just stunning. However, the whips he wields just doesn't do much for me. So, both hands got hacked out and my MotF got an old Techmarine axe as well as an auspex in his other hand.

Other then the should pads, there will not be any more work to him. Hopefully later today if I am feeling up to it, I will try and get primed up and ready for his base coat.

And, as some of you may know, my EW French are packed away in a comfortable spot that is still a mystery. So that FOW project is on hold until I unearth the boxes they were put into. However, Team Battlefront will be heading to the Showcase Mid-War Team Tournament. I will be taking an American Infantry Gunline! Pictures to come in a few days. Emperor's Champion

Hey guys,

It has been a long while since I have posted but here is a small update. I am working on a Freeboota 2012 Motivational Challenge- one unit a month. Well, the Crusader Squad is still a work in progress but here is the EC. Let me know what you think.

I think the white is still a little chalky but a few more thin coats should fix it. More to come soon!

Jordan

Raiding Aces!

So, after a long debit, I picked my army. Yet another one to start, Free French. Here is the first picture of the army sitting on my desk. In the coming weeks, I will post some WIP Pics. If you haven't picked up the new Burning Empire book yet, you really need too!

Fine Cast?

Well, I finally got one. I have been holding out, not on principal but just because I haven't seen a model I love and needed to have. However, that all changed this week. I was at the LGS and as much as I was fighting it, I got my hands on Trazyn the Infinite. He looks amazing. So, I grabbed him and couldn't wait to get him home. As I stood there, holding a new beautiful model, my phone rang.

He looks amazing. So, I grabbed him and couldn't wait to get him home. As I stood there, holding a new beautiful model, my phone rang. My daughter had fallen and she has a nasty bruise on her face. She is okay and upon getting home and consouling her, I was able to get the model started. First thing I noticed, the resin had a lot of flash. Now, being a 'veteran' hobbyist, flash is no big deal for me. It prolongs the joy of building a model. I got him all all together and will have some green stuff to use. Once the glue has fully cured, I will get to play with the Liquid Green Stuff and will my thoughts on that as well.

Now that he is all built, I only have one honest complaint. The resin is really soft. Just holding the staff in my hands, I am afraid it will snap off. Should GW read this, my only two cents is harder resin. I personally would much rather had a model break then bend. Did I get a good value on the model? Overall, it will not stop me from buying the few other Necrons I need in Fine Cast. Next post, I will have pictures of Trazyn all ready to be primed!

Cheers,
Jordan

Part II-

So, I got the liquid green stuff on him. There was only a small spot on his right shoulder that needed it as well as the part where his 'cloak' meets. I am still out on the liquid green stuff, it worked great on my FOW tanks but I think I have a lot to figure out about the product. For what it does, $4 is a good price.

Check back later this week to (hopefully) see Trazyn painted!

Did I forget to update this thingy again?

Hi everybody!

So, it has been a while since I posted. I need to get better at this thing. So, what I have I been up to? Sadly, not as much in the hobby as I would hope. I got into a car accident in late August which in some odd way may have helped me out. I found out I have several blown discs and after the accident, I had some issues using my right hand. So that took all of September out of the mix. On the plus side, 'distance makes the heart grow fonder.' I wasn't far away from my models but I just looked at them as I passed them. So, without further delay, here is some of my work. While at Cold Wars... Err Fall In! We got 8 inches of snow but before that, I was able to get some much needed time in with my Soviet Tanks. I have wanted to do a Red Army since I got back into Flames of War and I got some cool reasons to get into the red tide. So, like all good generals, I started with some armor. Now, by some, I mean over 5,000 points worth. As you can see below, this is the end of Night #2. Check it out!

In the above picture, you can see 20 T-34s, 15 T-34/85s, 3 KV-1e, 9 Mk. IVs (Churchill IIIs) and Kommisar Dedov. Not seen in the picture because of my small nightstand is the 11 IS-2s. Yep, I have a hobby issue.

Now, before I headed to Fall In! I got to spend some time doing something I loved as a kid. Carving Pumpkins! I got to sit with my almost two year old daughter and cut out one of her favorite cartoon characters on a Punkie, as Shae calls them. The first is the nearly finished Work in Progress, the second is Punkie Grouper outside in the candlelight.

So, over the next few weeks, you will see some of the following on my Blog:
-Recreation of the Soviet Army in 15mm (Flames of War)
-Necrons- Warhammer 40,000
-Retribution of Scryth- Warmachine
-28mm Soviets- Game to be found... Any good WWII 28mm Skirmish games?
-28mm Austrians- Warhammer Ancients Waterloo- this is a 100% test.

So, if you haven't seen a post from me in a week, shoot me an email and tell me to get on the ball!

Cheers,
Jordan
